Why "Virgil"
When Dante crossed territory no one should cross alone, he had Virgil: a calm guide who had walked the path a thousand times and never lost a traveler.
That is what getting your first AI agent should feel like.
The problem we saw
Every AI company sells a brain. None of them show a normal person how to use it. The result: millions of professionals hear that AI will change their work, open ChatGPT, ask it a question, get a wall of text, and think, "Is this it?"
It is not. An AI agent is not a chatbot. It opens your files, does the work, and shows you the result. It is the difference between asking someone to describe a spreadsheet and handing someone the spreadsheet to finish. But getting from zero to a working agent requires a terminal, API keys, config files, and a dozen decisions nobody prepared you for.
We started Virgil because we know AI and our friends do not. But they should, because they have real jobs that need it. A personal trainer managing 15 clients. A general manager running a construction company. A consultant juggling six accounts. These people are not going to learn to code. They need a guide.
What we build
Virgil is a product company, not a services company. We build tools that walk non-technical people from their first AI agent to a full staff, in plain English, on their own computer.
Computer Setup Free
Seven guided steps. Your first AI agent, running on your computer, in one afternoon. This is where everyone starts.
Hire Virgil $60/project
You describe what you want to build. Virgil scopes it, draws the plans, and walks you through building it step by step. One project, from dream to done.
Virgil Available now
A desktop workspace where every AI model shows up in one interface. Boards, documents, tables, decks, and presentations that you and your AI edit at the same time. Your project is the canvas. The tools are the staff. $20/month, available now.
What we believe
The interface is the software.
AI companies sell brains and leave you to wander their platforms. A general manager asked one of the big assistants to show him its interface. The answer: "There is no user interface. You have to access the different platforms." He signed up for Virgil that minute. We believe the workspace is the product.
Your files stay on your computer.
Virgil works locally. Projects live in folders on your machine. Every tool's state is a plain file: board.json, doc.md, table.json. Nothing leaves your computer unless you choose it. We call this custody, and it is not a feature, it is a posture.
Never lock in.
Your keys, your models, your files, your choice. Claude in the morning, GPT in the afternoon. Switch anytime. We build the workspace, not the engine. If a better model ships tomorrow, you plug it in and keep working.
Plain English or nothing.
If a personal trainer can set up his first agent after a full day of sessions and build a client tracker before bed, the instructions are clear enough. If he cannot, we rewrite them. That is the bar.
Agents, not answers.
A chatbot gives you text to copy and paste. An agent does the work. Your Excel talking to your Word document while creating your PowerPoint. That is the difference, and it is the only thing we sell.
The company
Virgil AI LLC is a small company. We have built, scaled, and exited before. This time we are building the thing we wish existed: product first, customers first.
If you have questions, ideas, or just want to talk about what you are building, email hello@hirevirgil.com. A human answers.
