Terms of Service

Virgil offers a free guided computer setup, and sells pre-built agent packs, skills, custom agent builds, Hire Virgil (a project scoping and build workspace), and Virgil (a desktop app where AI works on projects with you on your own computer, sold as a subscription when it launches).

Virgil is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or any other AI model provider. When you connect your own account with a model provider, your use of that provider is governed by their terms, not ours. If a provider changes its products, pricing, or policies, that is outside our control.

We sell two kinds of things. One-time digital purchases: downloadable agent packs, skills, custom agent builds, and single Pro projects. And subscriptions: recurring plans such as Virgil Pro monthly and, at public release, Virgil, billed in advance each billing period. Prices are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

You can cancel a subscription at any time. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then simply expires. We do not claw anything back: projects you completed and files you downloaded remain yours, though features that require an active plan stop working when the plan ends.

Agent packs and skills are licensed to you for use in your own work or business. You may edit them, copy them across your own machines, and use what they produce commercially. You may not resell, redistribute, or repackage the packs or skills themselves.

Virgil is a desktop app. Work happens inside projects, and a project only contains what you put in it. There are two ways to give a project material, and they are different promises:

• Files you drag inare copied into that project's workspace on your computer. Virgil works on those copies. It has no pathway to anything you did not add.
• Folders you grant access to stay where they are. The grant is scoped to that one project, applies only while you are working in it, and you can revoke it at any time. Here you are not handing Virgil a file, you are handing it a door, and you control the door.

Because the app can read, create, and modify files you give it access to, and can run automations you schedule, you are in charge of it. Review what your agent proposes before approving it, keep backups of anything important, and do not point it at files you cannot afford to lose.

You are also responsible for using Virgil lawfully, including complying with any rules that apply to your profession, such as confidentiality obligations, employment law, or data protection rules that cover your clients' information.

Virgil works with an AI model, which we call the engine. There are two ways to run it:

• Your own key (the default). Virgil connects to your own account with a model provider such as Anthropic or OpenAI. Your content travels from your computer to your provider, under your agreement with them. We are not in that path. Your provider bills you directly for usage.
• Virgil Engine. If you have no key to bring, you can run on ours. Requests are routed through our account with OpenRouter to the model best suited to the task. This is more convenient, and it is a different privacy posture than using your own key: our infrastructure is now in the path. We configure it to the strongest data retention posture the providers allow. The details are in our Privacy Policy, and if privacy is your top priority, use your own key.

Virgil Engine is not for regulated data that requires a signed agreement with the model provider, such as protected health information under HIPAA. If you handle that kind of data, use your own key with a provider you have the right agreement with.

If you bought something and it is not working out, email hello@hirevirgil.com within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you. For subscriptions, that applies to your most recent payment. We would rather give your money back than have you stuck with something you cannot use.

We promise a process: Virgil works with you, pushes back, and revises until you decide the work is right. We do not promise that any single output will be finished, polished, or accurate on the first try, and you decide when work is done, not us. AI output can be wrong; review it before you rely on it.

We also cannot promise specific business results, or that third-party software and services (model providers, OpenRouter, your operating system) will always behave. Our products are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind beyond what the law requires.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Virgil is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect damages such as lost profits or lost data.

The content on this site belongs to Virgil. Don't scrape it, copy it wholesale, or misuse the site (for example, by attempting to access other customers' purchases or projects). We may update the site, our products, and these terms over time; the date at the top tells you when these terms last changed. Material changes apply going forward, not retroactively to past purchases.

Some Virgil features let you upload or sync your own files. Only upload material you have the right to use. We respect copyright and comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

If you believe content stored through our services infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at hello@hirevirgil.com or by mail to Virgil AI LLC, Attn: DMCA Agent, 2875 S Orange Ave STE 500, Orlando, FL 32806. Your notice must include: (1) your physical or electronic signature, (2) the copyrighted work you claim is infringed, (3) the material you claim is infringing and where it is located, (4) your contact information, (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law, and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.

When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the material and notify the person who stored it. That person may send a counter-notice under the DMCA, and we handle it as the law provides. We terminate access for repeat infringers.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that ends up in court will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, Florida, and you and Virgil AI LLC both consent to that venue. That said, if something is wrong, email us first. We would much rather fix it than litigate it.
